Chain, a bitcoin API developer, has raised $9.5 million in new funding led by Khosla Ventures with participation from previous backers RRE Ventures, Thrive Capital, and SV Angelalong along with new investors Kevin Ryan, Barry Silbert, Scott Banister, Homebrew, 500 Startups and Pantera Capital.
Chain helps developers build bitcoin apps by providing fast access to the blockchain, a massive network that is otherwise very difficult to build on.
Founded earlier this year and currently in beta, Chain has raised over $13 million to date and will use the new funding to grow its team and build out its product offerings, with a focus on mobile.
