Jaunt, a virtual reality tech startup based in Palo Alto, has raised $27.8 million in a Series B round led by Highland Capital Partners with participation from Google Ventures and existing investors Redpoint VenturesBritish Sky BroadcastingPeter Gotcher and Blake Krikorian.

Jaunt is building a camera with a ring of lenses that is able to capture nearly a full sphere of video that can be edited with its software.

Emerging from stealth just five months ago, Jaunt will use the new funding to expand its team, build more cameras, and produce films
