6SensorLabs, a food testing startup based in San Francisco, has raised $4 million in seed funding led by Upfront Ventures with participation from SoftTech VC, Lemnos LabsMitch KaporSK Ventures, and Xandex Investments.

6SensorLabs is building an affordable device that allows users to check foods for allergens and view the results on a mobile app.

Founded last year by two MIT grads, 6SensorLabs will use the new funding to build out its mobile app and launch the first version of the device geared toward gluten detection for users with Celiac Disease or other sensitivities to gluten
